About Mr Thomas Kuan
Thomas Kuan was introduced to Ping Shuai Qigong (Level Arm Swing) when he met Master Lee Feng-San Shifu in Taiwan in 2013. Since then, he had helped to promote this qigong in Singapore. He is certified Ping Shuai Qigong facilitator.

Salt Dough Figurine (Halloween Special) Oct Tues 2pm

SALT DOUGH FIGURINE (HALLOWEEN SPECIAL)

Salt dough is an inedible organic modelling material which can be easily made by mixing flour, salt, water and oil. Food colouring can be added to the dough to give it colour. In this session, Catherine will share the recipe and demonstrate how to prepare the dough. Participants will also learn to make and bring home their Jack-O-Lantern.

About Ms Catherine Loo
Catherine was born in Hong Kong and had lived in Canada for 30 years. Since coming to Singapore in Sept 2007, Catherine has been an active member and a volunteer for WINGS starting 2009. Her outgoing and sociable personality has gained her many new Singaporean friends. She enjoys teaching and has been sharing her skills with her peers on courses like Sudoku, Paper Craft, Chair Exercise and Fondant decoration.

Plaster-cast Sculpture (Leaves) Oct Mon 2pm

PLASTER-CAST SCULPTURE (LEAVES)

Plaster-cast sculpting is a technique of making a copy of a 3-dimensional form using plaster strips. During the workshop, you will learn to cast sculptures using real leaves and explore different colour finishing for the sculptures. Be creative by using outrageous colours so your artwork will stand out! At the end of the workshop, you will get to create your masterpiece of two different leaves and make like-minded friends.

About Ms Tang May Mey
May Mey is currently a Visual Arts Program Instructor with the Down Syndrome Association. Besides painting classes, she has also conducted various craft workshops such as Decoupage, Clay Art and Plaster-cast Sculpture for their members. May Mey has various experiences in conducting workshops at major events, outreach road shows, social and corporate events for organisations such as the Down Syndrome Association, Singapore Heart Foundation and Manulife Singapore. She is also teaching art and crafts at Crestar for children 4 to 8 years old.

About Mr Alan Wong
Alan Wong picked up drawing as a hobby and mainly self-taught, while he was a young student. He enjoys Chinese calligraphy, water colour painting, oil painting and more, however, his personal favourite is portrait sketching. Prior to his retirement, he was a Facilities Manager for the Data Centres of several multinational companies handling electrical, cooling, fire and security systems and networks, etc. Now, retired at age 69, Alan actively volunteers in community services and provides free tuition to students from single parent family.

Guided Autobiography (GAB) is all about your life stories, life reviews, reminiscences, memoirs, and more. GAB is a powerful, holistic and informal process through reflective learning of our own experiences. It is based on our understanding of ourselves, within the context of an interaction of memory, personal reflection and the present perspective. It is also a reminiscence and review of our life journeys, where we learn to understand how and why past events occurred and how to live for the present moment. Recording of one’s life experience by GAB process is one way of ageing with dignity.

About Charles Wu and Thomas Kuan
Charles Wu has been in the healthcare industry for most of his career and worked as laboratory technologist and care coordinator in National University Hospital (NUH) since 2000. After retirement in 2015, he actively pursues his passion in acting, and also volunteers in cancer survivors support groups. He is currently writing his story for his family and friends after attending the Guided Autobiography (GAB) workshop in March last year.

Thomas Kuan is passionate about writing autobiographies and believes that seniors can share their experiences and wisdom through their life stories. Being a certified GAB Facilitator, he has been conducting GAB since 2010. He hopes that more seniors are encouraged to be GAB facilitators.

About Mr. Lim Teo Cher

Mr Lim, born in 1950, has been interested in art since young and his hobbies include attending art exhibitions and painting. He worked in public sector for more than 40 years before retiring recently. It was only at the age of 60 that he started to upgrade his skills, which certified him as a qualified manicurist. He is currently learning eyebrow embroidery at the Mirror D’International College.

CONCEPTUAL DRAWING AND COGNITIVE ENHANCEMENT II

Conceptual drawing is a drawing skill that enables participants to develop and create new art ideas from an existing idea. During this workshop, participants will continue their ideation process and develop new ideas to enhance their cognitive development as well as emotional and physical development. 

  • Explore the usages of various types of drawing equipments and materials.
  • Learn to think from various angles and perspectives from a given 2D image so as to broaden thinking skills.

About Dr. Kay Kok

Dr. Kay Kok Chung Oi is an established interdisciplinary visual artist, art researcher and art educator. One of her artworks entitled “Virtuous Cycle” is located at the platform level of Macpherson MRT Station. She has also presented in international conferences and published her works internationally. She is currently an associate trainer at SEED Institute and associate faculty member at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS formerly known as UniSim) ; and is also an advisory committee member for People’s Associate Children’s Art.

CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY – PROGRESSIVE
中国书法 – 中级班 (6堂课)

完成初学者班后,学员将能在导师周和顺的指导下,练习更多行书与楷书并提升书法技巧。

After completing the workshops for beginners, participants can now take their calligraphy skills to another level through this workshop. They will learn and practice more regular and cursive styles with the guidance of Mr Chew Ho Son.

Sessions will be conducted mainly in Mandarin, PowerPoint in English and Chinese. Participants should complete the beginner courses or have basic calligraphy techniques.

周和顺 Chew Ho Son
前南洋理工大学财务处处长。(1981-2009年任职于南洋理工大学) 。获北京清华大学书法艺术高级研究课程证书 。2010年开始为南洋理工大学孔子学院中华文化怡养研修课程及国际学生交流课程书法兼职导师;人民协会合格书法导师 (PA Trainer) 。曾参加新加坡及中国、韩国、法国等区域及国际书法比赛。作品曾在各地展出或被收藏。

Mr Chew Ho Son graduated from the Nanyang University. He worked at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) from 1981 – 2009 and was the former Director of Finance at NTU. Mr Chew received his professional calligraphy training at Tsing Hua University in Beijing. He has been sharing his passion for the Chinese culture and calligraphy through teaching at various communities.
